FAQs

What makes Parley different?

Parley is the first platform entirely local that only deals with council matters.  Learn about issues on a regional level - current concerns, new council initiatives, what fellow citizens think...

How can I ensure my voice is heard on Parley?

Parley is a tool that both your local community and your local council can use.  Councils do want to listen to your opinion and value that feedback,  Parley will also be used to conduct council surveys where you can vote and add your thoughts on various subjects.

Will I be harassed for my opinion?

We will be moderating discussions; we're not interested in people who use foul language, bully, or harass others simply for their opinions.  Simply put, we will not tolerate harassment of community members or council staff.

Will the personal information I provide you be safe?

No other Parley members or council staff can access the information you provide upon registering.

Please refer to our Privacy Policy

Can I join more than one Parley community?

You won't be able to join other communities unless you have a house or are a ratepayer in both.  This is so that Parley remains local - communities solving their own issues and working together.

Why does Parley exist?

The idea behind Parley is to get councils engaged at a much earlier stage with locals, the people affected by the decisions made at the council level. Currently, many council ideas and actions are only available to the public once they happen, which often causes undue stress to the local community and council staff. How often do you hear of councils having to backtrack or remedy some issue that could have been solved much earlier by consulting the locals first?
